Nepali filmmakers based in America are disappointed with NEFTA organizers
The Nepal Movie Technician Association is preparing to organize the 11th NEFTA Film Awards in America in July. Movie Technicians Association has already announced the nominations for NEFTA Awards in various categories.
However, film workers in the US have expressed their dissatisfaction on social media saying that the NEFTA Award organizers have not given importance to them. Director Suresh Darpan Pokharal, who is based in Dallas, USA, expressed his dissatisfaction on social media and mentioned that the awards that are said to be given abroad for the development of Nepali films are limited to foreign visit of some, business to earn the name and many more. A technician in the US complained that he did not receive any information about the award being held in his city.
Darpan penned, "For how long are we going to suffer with the context of organizing the ceremony which is said to be held in foreign land for the development and expansion of Nepali films is just a free abroad visit to some, a chance to earn fake fame, and transactions under the table? Why are the filmmakers residing outside the country are sidelined?"
For the expansion and development of the Nepali film and music sector, there has been an increase in the number of awards held abroad in the last few years. However, such awards have neither been able to develop Nepali films nor have they been able to increase the dignity of these awards.
