Tej Giri brings twist in 'Hookah: An Absurd Dream'
Film 'Premgunj' famed actor Tej Giri is now going to be seen in the film 'Hookah: An Absurd Dream', made by the filmmakers of Pokhara.
In the film, Tej is the character who brings a twist. Earlier, Tej, who gained fame with his strong performances in 'Dhauli' and 'Premgunj', is optimistic about 'Hookah: An Absurd Dream'. This film was shot before his last released film 'Premgunj'. Due to various reasons, the release of this film was delayed.
"My character in Dhauli was lovable. I played the role of supporting the mother in her struggle. But this film has a slightly different type of character. Rather than being completely positive and completely negative, I'm somehow presented as a moderate character. I have played the role of a character who brings a 'twist' to the story of the film."
The film 'Hookah: An Absurd Dream' was produced by the team of the film 'Dhauli'. After acting in 'Dhauli', Tej, who has been close to this team for a decade, joined 'Hookah: An Absurd Dream'. "The script of the film is entertaining. Along with the environment of the western region, the language around Pokhara has been presented in a very beautiful way in the film", says Tej.
According to Tej, 'Hookah: An Absurd Dream' has changed the definition of hookah. "We think of hookah as blowing smoke. But the film tries to show the hookah used by the ancestors. Hookah had special importance in ancient times. The film tries to show the extent to which a person is addicted to hookah or any other substance. Hookah has been presented as a metaphor associated with a reputation. There can be love and betrayal. That addiction has raised the issue of how far it can take people.
In Tej's experience, although most of the films made in Nepal give priority to men, "this film presents a female character as a "hero". The story of the film relates to the character of the society. It has raised the issue of the lower-class and middle-class struggle. It tries to show how to calm a family dispute and solve the ups and downs of our life."
Directed by Shambhu Thapa, the film stars Pramila Khanal, Santosh Kumar Atrey, Prakash Ghimire, Tej Giri, Ashu Neupane, Talisha Gurung, Nischal Bimal, and Alisha BK. Reshma Pradhan is the co-producer, Parvati Thapa, Sushila Gurung, and Sagar Godar Chhetri are the producers, and Kamal Bahadur Bhujel and Kiran Kumar Atreya are the executive producers. The film will be distributed by Station Five in the valley and FD Company outside the valley.
