Indian and Nepali makers agrees to release film on OTT platform
The films of Nepal and India are going to be released in OTT and theaters in each other's countries. This agreement was done between Nepal Film Promotion Circuit (NFPC) and the Film and Television Promotion Council (FTPC) at the 'Indo-Nepal Cinema Exchange Summit 2023' held last Sunday at the Film Development Board.
At the summit, the Chairman of the Film Development Board, Bhuvan KC urged to use of the bilateral agreement for the benefit of Nepali films. Stating that the board is eager to welcome South Indian films to be shot in Nepal, he discussed that finding each other's market is positive.
NFPC president Nutan Neupane said that they are preparing to release each other's films as a form of cultural exchange. She said that the Nepali film will be dubbed in Telugu and released on OTT in South India. She said that they have 15 to 18 OTT platforms for this.
NFPC General Secretary and Director Himal Neupane said that the work is being done to release South Indian films on Nepali OTT platforms and theaters and revealed that there is a plan to release Nepali films in South Indian states including Kerala and Tamil.
FTPC Secretary PVS Burma said that they are trying to exchange art and culture between Nepal and India. "Film exchange means business opportunities, technology, and exchange of cast and crew," Burma said.
A South Indian film team led by FTPC president Chaitanya Jung has been in Kathmandu for a few days. The team is studying the market and potential of Nepali films. In the ceremony, Jung said that the exchange of shooting locations between Nepal and India could also become an important aspect.
