Interaction Program was Overshadowed by the Heated Argument
The Film Journalist Association of Nepal organized an interaction program named ‘Film Industry on Budget’ but the topic was overshadowed by the disputes between the president of Film Producers Association, Nawal Khadka and the ex-president of Film Association Pradip Kumar Udaya.
President Nawal Khadka, while giving his speech, accused the government of dominating Nepali films by imposing 1 percent customs duty on the import of foreign films. He questioned the reason for imposing 1 percent customs duty. While making his statement, he argued that all the distributors make their work done under the table.
After he made this argument, the former president of the Film Association, Uday, was furious. He warned Nawal not to blame anyone without any proof. Not only this, he even warned that he can show off the proof of producers not paying the custom duty as per their income.
The host of the interaction programs had to stop their disputes as they were crossing the limit and were dominating the real topic of the program.
Nawal Khadka continously blamed the producers for making their work done under the table whereas, Udaya argued that the government should investigate the issue.
Khadka questioned that the government which can give crores of rupees to the players, cannot give even 1-2 crores to the film industry. Uday, who left the hall after having a heated argument with Nawal, said that the reason for this sector not being able to move forward was that they could not accept each other's existence.
